Somatic Therapy
From Story to Source
Most of us spend years living from the neck up — managing, analyzing, coping, trying to “figure it out.” But the body keeps a far more honest story. It remembers what the mind forgets, holds what we’ve pushed aside, and carries patterns that were once protective but are no longer needed.
Somatic Therapy is a space to slow down and drop beneath the noise of the mind, into the deeper intelligence of the body and energy system. It’s a blend of gentle somatic exploration, trauma-informed talk therapy, and energetic unwinding rooted in the Amrit Method (certified) and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy.
You don’t have to push, perform, or figure anything out. We create the conditions for the body to soften, release, and integrate — with clarity, safety, and presence.
Sessions are also held where you feel most at ease — usually online, from your own home — which makes the sessions accessible, grounded, and easier to incorporate into your daily life.
Nothing is forced. Nothing is fixed. We simply listen for what’s ready to move and hold space for that movement to happen.
Why Somatic Therapy?
Life accumulates in the body.
Stress, grief, overwhelm, old emotional patterns, survival strategies, muscular holding, fatigue, and energetic “freezing” often linger long after the mind thinks it has moved on. Somatic Therapy helps these old layers melt — gently — by reconnecting you with sensation, breath, and presence.
You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need any background in yoga, or anything else for that matter.
You don’t even need to know what’s “wrong.”
As the body unwinds and the energy system clears, people often notice:
- Less tension and pressure
- Improved emotional steadiness
- A softer nervous system
- Better sleep
- Increased clarity and intuition
- A sense of inner spaciousness
- More energy and flow
- Reconnection to a deeper “you” beneath old patterns
The work is subtle but powerful — simple, honest, human.
How Sessions Work
Somatic Therapy combines mindful dialogue, supported postures, presence-based facilitation, and energy-aware practices. A session usually includes:
- Landing & Listening
We begin with a gentle, trauma-informed check-in: what’s present physically, emotionally, energetically, or spiritually — without analyzing or diving into story.
Just naming what’s here often softens the system. - Cultivation
We ease into the body with simple movements and supported shapes. This phase awakens sensation and quiets the mind.
You’re welcome to use whatever you have at home: a wall, pillows, blankets, a yoga mat, blocks, cushions, bolsters, or even a belt in place of a yoga strap.
- Exploration
Longer-held, supported postures allow you to meet your “edge” — the place where sensation is alive but safe, usually around 60–70% intensity.
Not pushing.
Not backing away.
Just staying with what’s here.
This is where deeper layers begin to melt.
I guide you with practices such as:
- E.D.T. – Energetic Diffusion Technique (feeling and releasing energetic/emotional tension)
- Focusing (listening to the body’s messages)
- Polarity Integration (bringing harmony to conflicting parts of self)
This is the meeting point of somatic therapy, subtle energy work, and mindful, presence-based dialogue.
- Integration
We finish with spacious rest, quiet, and grounding — giving your system time to reorganize.
This is where the deepest healing often lands.
My Approach
My work integrates:
- Amrit Method Yoga Therapy (trained & certified)
- Somatic Integration Practitioner (Atira Tan, certified)
- Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy–informed methods
- Trauma-aware presence and attuned dialogue
- Somatic and energetic unwinding
- Psychospiritual depth
- A gentle, intuitive, non-forceful style grounded in decades of integrative practice
I don’t diagnose, interpret, or push for answers. We work with what’s real, moment by moment, and let the body’s inherent wisdom lead the way.

A Session with Me
Sessions are:
- Supported with simple, readily available props
- Collaborative and trauma-aware
- Paced by your body’s own inclinations
- Private, confidential, and deeply respectful
- Held at a time that works for you
- Carried out from wherever you feel most comfortable
